R.E.A.L.
Loyola Marymount University, School of Education
In 2009, the faculty and staff in the School of Education (SOE) at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) prepared and published the Conceptual Framework as a knowledge base for its faculty, staff, and students. The Conceptual Framework is the guide and basis for the SOE's credential, degree, and certificate programs and focuses "on educational successes for all learners through respect, education, advocacy, and leadership." These concepts form the acronym R.E.A.L. Educators and students in the SOE at LMU strive to:
Respect and Value all Individuals.
Educate by Integrating Theory and Practice.
Advocate for Access to a Socially Just Education.
Lead in Order to Facilitate Transformation.
My graduate studies have focused on these tenets, and they have influenced my practices in the classroom. The following tabs show some of my thoughts on the tenets as well as samples of the tenets as manifested in my classroom and practices.
